The AGA Northern Virginia Chapter State and Local Government (SLG) Committee invites you to attend a virtual webinar on the Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) Act.

BABA has had a significant impact on federally funded infrastructure projects and was intended to support domestic manufacturing by increasing the use of American made products and materials. For grantees, BABA imposes specific requirements, which have caused challenges in complying with BABA. As a result, there have been issues with project viability, project delays, and increased costs related to materials and compliance.

The role of state and local governments is to understand the compliance requirements and learn best practices. This webinar will discuss BABA requirements, challenges in complying with BABA, and highlight best practices.

Attendees are eligible to earn 1 hour of Continuing Professional Education (CPE).

Geoffrey Magon is a Director with over 15 years of experience. Geoffrey Magon is a seasoned leader in program and project management, specializing in grant administration and regulatory compliance. He has worked across housing, community and economic development, and infrastructure programs, managing initiatives funded by Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Department of Housing and Development (HUD), and the U.S. Treasury.

Geoffrey has oversaw the Hurricane Harvey Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) Disaster Recovery Program in Texas, helping to ensure effective program delivery and compliance; led design and implementation support for the State of Connecticut’s COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program, and delivered compliance and monitoring services for Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund’s Solar for All initiatives.

Jessie Handforth Kome has nearly four decades of U.S. Department of HUD leadership experience in community development, neighborhood stabilization, disaster recovery, and program innovation to advise government and public sector clients on strategic initiatives. She has extensive experience with the HUD CDBG, including serving as Director of HUD’s Office of Block Grant Assistance.
